Kennebunk Veterinary Hospital is looking to add a compassionate, proactive Veterinary Technician or CVT to our collaborative, relationship-driven team in beautiful Southern Maine.

We are a four-doctor small animal practice that has spent more than 30 years building long-standing relationships within our community. Many of our clients have trusted us with their family's pets for generations - caring for grandparents, parents, children, and now even grandchildren's pets over the years.

While advanced surgery/anesthesia experience is not required, this role offers excellent exposure for technicians who are passionate about surgical support, anesthetic monitoring, and perioperative patient care.
Responsibilities Include:
- Assisting veterinarians with medical, surgical, and dental procedures
- Surgical preparation, anesthetic monitoring, and recovery care
- Performing patient assessments and obtaining accurate medical histories
- Client communication, education, and follow-up care instructions
- Venipuncture, laboratory sample collection, and treatment administration
- Maintaining accurate medical records
- Supporting a positive, efficient, and collaborative workflow throughout the hospital

WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Provide compassionate care to pet patients and their loved ones
- Keep accurate medical records in accordance with hospital policy
- Prepare and maintain the exam rooms and treatment areas
- Perform physical assessments and record your observations
- Keep furry friends calm and still during procedures (sometimes using chin scratches!)
- Prepare estimates for procedures and discusses financial commitments with clients
- Explain necessary follow-up and home care instructions
- Stock clinic treatment area and exam rooms, and inform inventory manager when supplies need to be ordered
- Assist the Veterinarian in medical, surgical, and dental procedures (be comfortable with blood draws; prepare patients for surgery; administer anesthesia; monitor patients during surgery and recovery; administer fluids)
- Care for all surgical materials and keep the operating room properly stocked and prepared for surgery
- Pharmacy skills, including protocols for filling in-house
- Monitors vitals by hand and with equipment
- Sample collection and processing for in-house and reference labs
- Communicates within the team, proactively advocating for their patient's nee
- Operates practice management software (AVImark) and related software packages

REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT) or License (LVT) preferred but not required
- Must have a positive attitude and be a team player
- Diagnostics (Radiographs, ECG, Blood Pressure, Venipunture)
- Placing IV Catheters
- Administering treatments
- Assisting and monitoring patients during surgery
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including managing processes independently, accurately and reliably
