Description

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Virginia (UVA) School of Medicine seeks applications for a tenure-ineligible clinical faculty position as a member of the Division of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery in Charlottesville, VA. The faculty member will be engaged in the full spectrum of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery in an academic environment and will join a group of 4 FPMRS physician faculty and 1 NP clinician. Clinical duties will include an office-based practice as well as surgical services performed at both onsite and offsite locations. On a rotating basis the faculty member may conduct outreach clinics in UVA facilities within 50 miles of the UVA campus. In addition, the faculty member will participate in undergraduate and graduate medical education. The faculty member will be eligible for a secondary appointment in the UVA Department or Urology.

Qualified candidates must have an MD or DO, and have completed an ACGME accredited Fellowship program in FPMRS. Candidate must alsobe board-certified or board eligible by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. The successful candidate must have excellent clinical skills and enthusiasm for Medical Education; an interest in clinical research is desirable and academic experience is preferred.

Salary and rank are commensurate with education and experience.

Teaching - Teaching encompasses all activities that directly facilitate Student/Resident learning, clinical lectures/didactics, evaluations (MyTips/Oasis/etc), advising,and other Physician Faculty Attending duties.

Research - The research component normally includes scholarly publication, attending academic conferences and participating in seeking extramural funding.

More senior scholars often take leadership roles in scholarly associations and act as editors, board members and referees for grant- giving organizations, academic presses and scholarly journals.

Service- - University service involves membership in departmental, Medical Center/School of Medicine and university committees, attending departmental meetings, recruitment of students/Residents/Faculty clinical charting, answering emails and other professional tasks.

In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:MD or DO

Experience: Commensurate with rank

Licensure: State of Virginia Medical License eligible

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position includes provision of services in the clinical setting with varying requirements of sedentary and non-sedentary work.
