About the opportunity

City of Darwin maintains public area and street lighting across the Darwin municipality. Reporting to the Executive Manager Technical Services, the Public Lighting Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the operation and maintenance of Council's Public Lighting (Street, Park & Feature Lighting), including program development, upgrades and new infrastructure.

The key service deliverables of the role include, but not limited to:

  • Monitoring the performance levels of all maintenance, luminaire supply and control system contracts involved with the section's activities, including contract administration and supervision.
  • Maintaining/updating the Public Lighting Asset Management Plan to ensure assets are replaced, upgraded and maintained as required to achieve the maximum design life for safe and efficient functioning.
  • Developing and maintaining procedures and technical documents relating to public lighting.
  • Planning the preparation of Public Lighting Guidelines, including smart controls and new technology implementation.
  • Providing and coordinating professional and technical advice to internal stakeholders and external design engineers on the concept and detailed designs relating to public lighting to meet Council's standards.
  • Comply with City of Darwin Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures.

To be considered for the role you will have:

  • Diploma (or higher) in Engineering or related technical field (eg: Asset Management/Project Management).
  • A minimum of five (5) years experience in public and street lighting management.

It would be beneficial if you have experience in developing or managing a municipal public lighting program and knowledge of principles, practices and theories of outdoor lighting maintenance.

At City of Darwin we offer competitive remuneration with generous leave entitlements.

This position has a commencing base salary of $98,206.00 per annum which is negotiable depending on skills, knowledge and experience.
