Epworth Freemasons is seeking a dedicated Medical Oncology Registrar (Advanced Trainee) for 6-months commencing August 2024. This role offers a unique opportunity to train comprehensively in medical oncology within a leading not-for-profit private hospital.

Our facilities include specialised wards, modern day oncology units, radiation oncology services, and palliative care. The Freemasons oncology unit comprises a purpose-built day oncology area, a short day / day medical unit, and a 40-bed inpatient oncology ward.

Supported by five senior oncologists, you'll engage in weekly teaching sessions, including VMOTG Friday teaching sessions and journal club. Participate in a formal mentorship program, aligning a research project with your training. Epworth actively participates in clinical trials and research activities. As an advanced trainee, you'll partake in multidisciplinary team meetings and audit activities under consultant supervision, presenting cases and offering recommendations. There are no on-call or after-hours requirements.

Key responsibilities involve daily ward rounds, day oncology duties, patient admissions and reviews, attendance at outpatient clinics and multidisciplinary team meetings, active participation in audit activities and treatment-planning meetings, research project execution, elective duties in radiation oncology and oncology-based diagnostics, and academic commitments such as journal club participation and undergraduate student teaching.
