Position Summary:
An excellent opportunity to be a part of a rapidly growing life insurance and reinsurance company’s dynamic Valuation team. This position would be involved in a broad spectrum of actuarial projects and tasks. They include: calculating reserves and related balances, modeling future cash flows for financial projections, financial reporting and experience analysis/review, and analyzing quarterly and annual financial results. This position may also assist in the completion of embedded value, asset/liability management and capital management work. In this position, you will interact with other departments like accounting, investments, IT, and operations.
Requirements
Role Responsibilities:
Determine, review, and analyze quarterly STAT, GAAP, DAC, VOBA and tax reserves and related balances for a variety of life insurance and annuity products.
Provide required financial reporting information to other areas of the Company, clients, and for regulatory and compliance support, including audit.
Perform annual cash flow testing and other asset adequacy analysis and assist in the completion of required reporting.
Analyze financial results and experience, propose assumption updates, and support executive level decision making.
Propose, test, and implement process improvements.
Support the Company in auditor and regulatory examinations and questions and ensure the Company complies with regulatory changes.
Maintain and document valuation models as well as perform other required actuarial documentation for assumptions and controls.
Assist with model conversion, valuation platform conversion and system validation.
Assist with operations requests related to values and administration of (re)insurance policies.
Train other finance/actuarial personnel to be able to handle any of the above tasks, and pass on institutional knowledge.
May manage an Actuarial Analyst or Senior Actuarial Analyst.
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum 6+ years of US STAT or GAAP reserving and financial reporting experience
Strong critical and analytical thinking
Strong understanding of life insurance products (whole life, term, UL, payout annuities, deferred annuities, long-term care)
Strong communication and collaboration
Able to research problems or questions and provide responses
React to change productively and able to prioritize multiple tasks appropriately
Strong with Excel
Experience with AXIS, ALFA and ARCVAL/CASE a plus. While the company currently uses all three of these actuarial software platforms we are in the process of converting everything to Moody’s Axis. Hence experience with Axis is a plus.
Required Education / Certifications:
ASA designation required, near FSA preferred and least five years of experience performing actuarial duties related to life (re)insurance
MAAA designation or desire to pursue MAAA designation
Bachelor’s degree (Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or Actuarial Science is a plus).
