Position Overview:
As a Training Manager at Galen College of Nursing, you will lead the Training and Quality Team in providing new-hire and ongoing orientation and training of all campus employees. This includes the development, implementation, and evaluation of staff training programs that foster each staff person’s ability to provide quality customer service, to uphold Galen’s culture and values, and to maintain compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations, policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluates training needs and program effectiveness based on changes to organization policies and procedures, information gathered through interviews, surveys, performance audits, and compliance audits, as well as feedback provided by department and organization leaders.
- Provides oversight for and contributes to the continuous development and review of training and transition plans, including training presentations, self-study exercises, self-directed practice guides, on-the-job training opportunities, progress checklists, and assessment tools, as needs are identified through new-hire preparedness evaluations, staff performance evaluations, and changes to organization policies and procedures.
- Works collaboratively with department leaders and Training and Quality Specialists to improve individual and organizational performance by customizing training content that focuses on organization culture and values, quality customer service, regulatory compliance, functional-area expertise, systems and technology, and organization policies and procedures.
- Provides oversight for and contributes to the development and delivery of the training programs using various modalities, both in-person and online, including lecture, demonstration, group discussion, role playing, self-study, and on-the-job training.
- Keeps up with developments in areas of expertise, including subject matter related to organization functional areas as well as training strategies and modalities.
- Evaluates Training and Quality Specialist skills, performance, and productivity to identify areas of improvement, and works collaboratively to further develop the Training and Quality team.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- Education: Minimum of a master’s degree.
- Experience/Skills: Minimum of five (5) years of experience working in a higher education leadership, training, or operations position. Demonstrated subject-matter expertise in college level administrative policies and procedures. Familiarity with systems and technology used to manage student data and facilitate workflow execution. Documented experience related to training program management is preferred.
- Other Qualifications: Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to facilitate understanding through clear and consistent content delivery. Must demonstrate leadership ability and adherence to Galen’s culture and values. Must have strong judgment, problem-solving, and analytical abilities with high attention to detail. Must be decisive, flexible, and able to adapt to change. Must possess appropriate technical skills, the ability to communicate using technology, and the ability to interact with learning management systems.
- Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment: Position requires mental activity, reading, planning, preparing, evaluating and decision making. Operation of standard office equipment such as phone, computer, projector, and printer/scanner, occurs on a frequent basis.
