Process requests for patient's health information in a timely and efficient manner ensuring accuracy and providing customers with the highest quality work and customer service. Must at all times safeguard and protect patient's right to privacy by ensuring only authorized individuals have access to the patient's medical information and that all releases of information are in compliance with the request, authorization, company policy and HIPAA regulations. Responsible for reviewing and analyzing information in the electronic medical record against requests to ensure properly executed authorizations for releases. Assess requests for external reviewers of medical information, and help resolve quality issues.
This position is full-time (40 hours/week) Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work an 8-hour shift schedules from 8:00am - 4:30pm EST.
Training will be on the job conducted virtually from your home.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Completes release of information functions adhering to HIPAA, and State & Federal statues on release of information.
- Verify whether request for healthcare information is valid under patient access rights or properly executed with an authorization to release.
- Safeguard patient's protected health information at all times
- Abstract required information in the Cerner
- Communicate regularly with the public and maintain professionalism and calming demeanor.
- Maintains and exhibits current knowledge of profession and completes required continuing education
- Maintain established quality & productivity benchmarks
- Communicates regularly, and with excellent written/oral communication skills, with internal and external attorneys, physicians, risk management, law enforcement, and compliance.
- Maintains a safe environment complying with NLH policies and procedures; reports and directly addresses environmental hazards and violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when involved or observed.
- May perform other duties upon request.

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma / GED OR equivalent experience
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- 2+ years of experience in a healthcare setting, or experience within HIM (Health Information Management)
- Ability to work an 8-hour shift schedules from 8:00am - 4:30pm EST.
Preferred Qualifications:
- HIPAA Experience pertaining to release of information
- Familiarity with Medical terminology
Telecommuting Requirements:
- Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
- Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy.
- Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $17.74 - $31.63 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
