- Endoscopy Technician
Description
The endoscopy technician is a member of the endoscopy team trained to function in an assistive role in the delivery of safe patient care including pre-operatively, intra-operatively, and post-operatively.

- Surgical Services within the hospital. May be stressful dealing with individuals, staff, patients, and family. Potential exposure to radiation/toxic materials. Regularly exposed to Blood Borne materials (Category I) or Chemical Hazards.
- Prolonged, extensive or considerable walking and standing. Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching. 8–12-hour intervals, available for call.

Job Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Obtains appropriate supplies and equipment for procedure, charge to the appropriate account. Inform Circulator or Charge Nurse of conflict in equipment or scheduled procedure.
- Assist equipment care and maintenance, reports and problems to leadership to have work order submitted.
- Understands and demonstrates in depth knowledge of aseptic technique and maintaining a sterile environment.
- Demonstrates accurate and complete set ups and maintains an organized and sharp-safe work area.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the functions of the endoscopic equipment and operates the equipment in a safe an appropriate manner.
- Assists Circulator in moving, positioning, and caring for patients.
- Anticipates physicians’ needs for patient procedures.
- Demonstrates proper technique for processing, identifying and passing off field all specimens.
- Responsible for reviewing Surgeon Preference card to open case in a cost-effective manner and to properly return supplies not used.
- Verbalizes step by step process of scope cleaning and operation of scope washer machines. Verbalizes process for quality control.
- Follows policies and procedures for the administration of medications on the sterile field.
- Responsible for completing Annual Required Safety Training and Annual Health Screen.
- Verbalizes role in Fire and Malignant Hypothermia.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
CNA, MA, or other medical experience beneficial
Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Knowledge and skill of surgical aseptic techniques, procedures and hospital standards.
Certification/Licenses:
BLS certification required prior to first clinical shift (must be issued by the American Heart Association).
Ongoing Competencies:
