Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required

Training & Skills
- Strong working knowledge of building, fire, safety, and infection control regulations

Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of management experience in housekeeping, environmental services, or hospitality operations
- Experience in senior living, hospitality, or healthcare environments strongly preferred
- Previous experience in a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) is a plus
Additional Requirements
- Ability to carry a company-issued cell phone and respond promptly to emergencies
- Ability to walk the community regularly and conduct work area inspections
- Flexibility to serve as Manager on Duty (MOD), including weekends and holidays (approximately 6 times per year, may include 1 holiday).
Position Summary
The Director of Housekeeping & Laundry Services provides strategic and operational leadership for all housekeeping and laundry services at Roland Park Place. This role oversees services across Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Skilled Nursing, ensuring a clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors. The Director ensures regulatory compliance, supports resident satisfaction, and upholds luxury hospitality standards throughout the community.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Champion a culture of hospitality, safety, and trust, ensuring full compliance with safety protocols, infection prevention standards, emergency preparedness plans, and incident reporting requirements while maintaining a warm, welcoming environment.
- Build and sustain strong, respectful relationships with residents, families, associates, vendors, and leadership by delivering consistent, customer-focused service solutions that anticipate needs and exceed expectations.
- Recruit, interview, hire, train, onboard, and evaluate housekeeping and laundry team members
- Provide leadership, motivation, accountability, and ongoing professional development for staff
- Foster a culture of excellence and empowerment, enabling associates to take ownership of the resident experience and deliver detail-oriented customized service
- Support community and departmental satisfaction and engagement goals
- Develop, manage and monitor departmental operating budgets for efficiency and contribute to long-term capital planning
- Identify operational workflow or infrastructure challenges and collaborate with the Vice President of Operations to implement effective solutions
- Oversee housekeeping and laundry services for all residential, healthcare, and common areas
- Manage third-party vendors, including specialty cleaning, linen services, and flooring contractors
- Maintain compliance with Department of Healthcare Quality, CMS, OSHA, CARF, and infection control standards
- Ensure departmental participation in emergency planning, disaster drills, and fire drills
- Conducts quality assurance inspections, audits, and performance reviews
- Develop and maintain cleaning schedules, training materials, and standard operating procedures
- Supervise laundry operations to ensure hygienic handling of resident clothing and community linens in accordance with infection prevention protocols
- Maintain all spaces to luxury hospitality standards, demonstrating exceptional attention to detail and sensitivity to individual resident preferences and routines.
- Implement proactive preventative and deep-cleaning programs for all surfaces, furnishings, windows, and specialized equipment
- Collaborate with other departments to promote a safe, respectful, and supportive environment
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, including severe weather and utility disruptions (when necessary)
- Address housekeeping and laundry requests or concerns promptly to minimize disruption and ensure high resident satisfaction
- Plan and support capital projects, apartment renovations, and upgrades; coordinate with vendors and contractors to ensure timely, on-budget completion
- Perform additional duties as assigned

This role requires the ability to proactively identify issues, analyze information, develop practical solutions, and implement improvements aligned with the needs and objectives of the community.
Physical & Mental Requirements
- Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Physical stamina to perform regular inspections and walk the community

Qualifications
